Strayer University Online

Strayer University Online is the online division of Strayer University, a school designed to cater to the needs of busy adult students. Strayer University has 70 physical campuses around the country, and the online component enables students who don't have easy access to those campuses or who can't attend traditional classes due to schedule conflicts to still take advantage of a Strayer University education. Many of Strayer University online's students are working adults whose schedules simply don't permit them to attend regularly scheduled classes.

Strayer University Online offers two options for students to schedule their educations: synchronous classes, and asynchronous classes. In synchronous classes, students and instructors meet online at the same scheduled time every week, just like in a regular classroom. These programs require participation at established hours, and typically include things like live audio from the professor, supported by a virtual blackboard where the professor can make notes. You can ask questions from the professor in real time via various messaging protocols.

In asynchronous classes, students can participate when their schedules permit. Students in asynchronous classes listen to recorded audio lectures and video presentations, and can access supporting materials through the online portal. Students in asynchronous classes have the option to participate in real-time chats, but participation at a scheduled time isn't required, making this a good option for adult students with busy schedules.

With Strayer University online, students have the option of online tutoring, and can contact the professor during regularly scheduled office hours to ask questions about the programs. Strayer's online learning options offer the same opportunities as traditional classroom learning, but on a flexible schedule.

Online programs vary from state to state, but students can work toward a variety of specialty degrees in information systems, including certificates, diplomas, associate's degrees, bachelor's degrees, and more.
