Southwest Florida College's financial assistance staff is dedicated to helping eligible students find a way to manage the cost of a college education. Although this is often frightening to students, be assured that the staff will help you with the process, step-by-step.

Southwest Florida College has an open admissions policy that allows all people who are high school graduates, or who have successfully completed equivalent education as certified by state departments of education, to be admitted. The College is searching for students who genuinely want practical career preparation. While academic qualifications are important, motivation and drive to succeed are also considered carefully.
Admissions Procedures
Prospective students must complete our application and arrange for a face-to-face meeting with an Admissions Representative who can assist them with the rest of the process.
- Applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent. When applying for admission the potential student will need to supply proof of this requirement.
- College-level credits from other accredited institutions may transfer to Southwest Florida College. Students who seek transfer credits should have official transcripts of their prior work mailed directly to the Registrar of the college in order to prevent being scheduled for classes already taken.
- After applying and submitting supporting materials, applicants will be given a placement test to assist with scheduling.
- An institutionally created language assessment to figure out whether or not their language ability is strong enough to pursue study at the college level will be given to applicants for whom English is not their primary language.
- Applicants who have met the admission requirements will receive notification of their acceptance from the College.
International Students
Federal law allows Southwest Florida College to enroll International Students. Nonimmigrant applicants face additional requirements, apart from those listed above.
- Proof of financial support is required.
- English language ability must be demonstrated by achieving a TOEFL score of 500 or more, or by means of an alternative equivalent.
- Applicants must meet current INS requirements in order to be issued a Form-120.
When applicants have completed these requirements, they will receive an acceptance letter, as well as a Form-120 with instructions for attaining a student visa. All questions about the admissions process should be sent to the College Admissions Office.
