Software Engineering Technology

Building on knowledge acquired in the Associate's Degree program, the Bachelor of Science Degree in Software Engineering Technology provides more exposure to computer programming languages, particularly object-oriented languages, and more experience in computer database design, development and implementation.

You can earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering Technology in as little as three years, whether you attend days or nights. After completion of the Bachelor’s Degree program in Software Engineering Technology, graduates will be prepared to apply for positions like computer system developer, computer analyst, computer programmer, computer database specialist, computer software engineer, web programmer, planner or developer.

Program Mission

The aim of Bachelor of Science Degree program in Information Technology Software Engineering enables a person to gain an opportunity to continue his studies in the field of Software Engineering. Graduates are prepared to begin a career in Software Engineering; they also stand ready to continue learning throughout their lives.

Goals of the Program:

  • Using an emphasis on self-learning, provide various learning experiences.
  • Provide students with software engineering problem solving opportunities in database driven web applications and server side web development using advanced programming techniques.
  • Expose students to the concepts of software design patterns, component based designs and software structures.
  • Develop students' critical thinking and social skills as they apply to software development and programming principles.
  • Provide an environment that promotes self-learning and the continuation of every student's education beyond graduation with an aim for improving each student's capacity to adapt and incorporate new concepts, ideas, and growing technologies.

Outcomes of the Program:

  • Students will design and deploy software solutions founded on solid principles of software engineering, in the server side web development field, and in the area of database driven web applications.
  • Students learn to develop software engineering applications as well as managing, designing, and implementing them.
  • Students will learn how to build and design client server applications by using a database management tool.
  • Students will be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing with people on various levels. They should especially be able to communicate complex technical information effectively to the layman, in terms that he can understand.
  • Students will gain respect for other cultures.
